About

“I’ve been passionate about a proactive approach to psychological health ever since I started working with people in some of the world’s most high-pressure environments.

Regardless of whether it’s front line military action, a particularly tough legal case, or a terrifying boardroom presentation, the brain follows the same process! Evolution hasn’t caught up, and while the degree of response may vary, the outcome is the same - particularly in this extraordinarily fast-paced world.

This is where the concept of Psychological Fitness was born, and helping people understand the brains operating system enough to recognise patterns, and then make conscious and lasting positive change, is something I’m deeply proud of.”

What is Psychological Fitness?

Psychological Fitness is the ability to supervise and intercept your own internal operating system - proactively, strategically, especially under pressure and during change. It's the common thread that runs through everything I do. Your brain is running automatic systems every minute of the day, defaulting to old patterns, protecting you from threats that aren't there, predicting outcomes before they happen.

Those systems were built for a world that no longer exists, and left unsupervised, they cost you. In energy. In focus. In the quality of your decisions and the way you respond to the people around you. Supervising those systems, and learning to intercept them before they shape your response, is a trained capability, not a fixed trait, and not a quick fix. It sits between therapy, which is reactive, and the endless supply of quick off-the-shelf hacks and tools, which rarely hold. Psychological Fitness is Proactive, not reactive. Trained, not fixed. Science-led, not trend-driven.

It sits between therapy, which is reactive, and the endless supply of quick offthe-shelf hacks and tools, which rarely hold. Psychological Fitness is Proactive, not reactive. Trained, not fixed. Science-led, not trend-driven. My mission is twofold. To make this proactive approach to psychological health count as much as treating mental ill health does. And to get the term "Psychological Fitness" into everyday language - for organisations and their staff, for school children, teenagers and adults alike. Because your brain can't just be left to its own devices.

What is The MindFlex Method?

The Mindflex Method is how I train Psychological Fitness: the ability to supervise and intercept your own internal operating system, proactively and strategically, especially under pressure and during change. It rests on a simple idea. Most of what your brain does, it does automatically, through three key mechanisms. Left unsupervised, they shape your response before you've had any say in it, and that costs you, in energy, focus, and the quality of your decisions.

The Method trains you to supervise those mechanisms and intercept them when it matters, so you can catch the automatic response before it runs the show. In my programmes, that training is delivered in three stages, Install, Activate & Integrate, and Sustain, structured to match how the brain actually learns, so the change holds rather than fading the moment the pressure lifts.

The result isn't a quick fix. It's a trained capability you keep, one that makes performing under pressure cost you less.

Two Options Aren’t Enough…

When it comes to performance and psychological health, we have somehow landed in a place where most of us believe there are only two options. Either wait until we're struggling, and seek therapy. Or try to hack our way through, with the apps, the tools, the quick fixes that rarely hold. One is reactive. It waits for things to go wrong. The other is an attempt to patch over a system far too complex to patch. You cannot hack your way through a brain. You have to understand what's running underneath it.

Psychological Fitness is the missing third option. Proactive, not reactive. Trained, not fixed. It sits in the gap between the two, and it's the foundation that determines whether anything else you invest in actually returns what you're paying for it.
